Hiatus and Return: Redux~!

Tue Feb 10, 2009, 9:00 PM
 Hey deviants, I must admit I miss those of you I interact with in this odd land of the net. Today I'm returning from my far from brief Hiatus period. This post is somewhat ironic to me as I posted a nearly identical one last June and then promptly disappeared for 8 months. While I cannot promise something similar won't happen, I have renewed my subscription, halted my watch status on several clubs so I won't get overloaded by them and gained a little time. If you did noticed my absence, then have no fear FroBoys here! If you didn't then no worries, but with a little luck and some persistence I'm back, and here to stay =D

:star: Return :star:

As I said in my header, I have been on long hiatus and boy am I glad to be back. I can't really call it a forced hiatus, I just haven't really been taking pictures as of last semester. With a new annual subscription I should be back to some semblance of normal activity! (As intermittent as that may have been =p) Just like my last return I plan to go through the people I have been neglecting and comment and favorite all the wonderful deviations I've missed. :boogie: On my last return I said I planned to do Monthly features, well this time it's going to happen! The first feature is the HDR feature below that was intended for July of 2008. It might be seven months late, but it's still stunning to me. Give it a look-see. The features might not get much traffic here, but it's my attempt to support community members I enjoy.

:star: Feature: The Beautiful World (in HDR) :star:

I fell in love with High Dynamic Range photography as soon as I saw what it could do. The simple surreal beauty created when you force a range of perception into the shot that a camera isn't able to capture with a single photo amazes me consistently. Hence this feature, below are fifteen images by fifteen different Deviant Art Artists. All of which are amazing in my eyes. If you like them head on over to their pages and take a look at their other deviations!

:aww: Each of the above Deviations was handpicked from hundreds of HDR images for a veraity of reasons, if the authors of them would like them removed for any reason please contact me and I will do so immediately.

:star: Screen Captures~! :star:

When I first created my Deviant Art account it was to comment on works by my good friends *TriforceWarrior and ~Chibi-Pandachan. From there it slowly evolved into a digital gallery for the few bits of photography I considered remotely viewable, and that was it until I posted some old game comics. However, even then I kept them separate from the photography becouse I didn't consider it art. Now I'm changing my definition of art, and will be posting the four Halo 3 screen captures from my scraps to my gallery. :boogie: I realized as I was taking a screen capture the other day that I go through the same process to make them as I do with my photography. I aim the shot, choose the settings, zoom in or out and change the depth of field followed by post editing. The difference was that it was a pre-rendered engine. As a photographer though, I can't argue that I'm making the light, so reality might as well be a pre-rendered engine as well. :aww: Because of this Screen captures might become a staple in my posting here. I hope you enjoy them!

Hiatus and Return~!

Sat Jun 28, 2008, 1:46 PM
 Hey deviants, thanks for your ongoing support and patronage. Today I'm returning from my brief Hiatus period. If you did noticed my absence, then have no fear Froboys now here! If you didn't then no worries, but I'm back. =D

:star: Return~! :star:

As I said in my header, I have been on a brief hiatus and boy am I glad to be back. It was a forced Hiatus due to life encroaching on my net time and my photography, but with the renewal of my subscription I should be back to normal activity! (As intermittent as that may have been =p) I plan to go through the people I have been neglecting and comment and favorite all the wonderful deviations I've missed. :boogie: It is also my intentions to start doing monthly features starting in July. Not as though my meager page gets much traffic, but it's always nice to support artists I like. At any rate, I'm back and have a few pictures to post! Hopefully there will be more to come as they are taken! =D

 Hey deviants, thanks for your support and patronage. Today I'm just giving you a little information about my gallery update and an Art Challenge that I'm guest judging. Check it out!

Gallery Update Complete~!

As of yesterday I finally finished my gallery update! First I went through my gallery which only consisted of 41 photographs, 2 Fractals and my 7 Ragnarök comics and I scraped the photos I didn't feel made the cut. Then I took the remaining photos and went to work editing them, my editing included the following:

:bulletblue: A digital gallery matting scheme that will be on all my DeviantArt photographs from now on.
:bulletblue: Color correction and management, as well as physical alteration when necessary.
:bulletblue: Exposure and contrast correction.

For any of you that had some of my work :+fav:ed already I hope you enjoy the changes. To any of you who are have me watched I apologize for all the old Deviations that went through your watchbox. ^^; Once again thank you for your patronage! :w00t:

Some facts to get you thinking:
[1] If every newspaper in the US recycled just one typical Sunday paper, he or she could help create 212 million pounds of cellulose insulation-enough to insulate 118,767 Habitat for Humanity houses. That's nearly twice as many houses as all the Habitat homes built in America so far.

[2] Replacing just one 500-sheet roll of virgin toilet paper a year with one 500-sheet 100% recycled paper in every American household would leave 424,000 trees standing -- 16 times as many as in New York City's Central Park.

[3] One gallon of used oil - the amount from a small car engine -- can pollute 1 million gallons of fresh water and create an 8-acre oil slick. (Each year, nearly 200 millions of used oil are illegally dumped on the ground, tossed in the trash or poured down storm sewers and drains.)
